For decades, owners and guests of Makai Club have returned to enjoy a relaxing, resort-like experience in one of the most beautiful beach towns in the country.
Here are a few stories from past guests.
We arrived in Kauai after spending a week on the Big Island. We were so relieved to arrive at Makai Resort as our room on the Big Island had no A/C and was sweltering every day we had been there. We had loads of laundry as well so we were thrilled to have the stacked washer and dryer. It was a huge benefit to be able to wash clothes right in the unit at our convenience. There was a full kitchen that we also used frequently. There is a grocery store in the shopping center right up the street from the resort. It was extremely convenient. We used the resort pool and spa one night while we were there and had a great time swimming and relaxing. We felt very comfortable during our stay. The resort was very nice and well-maintained, the staff was extremely friendly and accommodating, and the location was very convenient for visiting all the sites on the north shore and nearby. I highly recommend this resort and will definitely stay with them in the future.
The grounds of these town homes is absolutely spectacular. Each of the town homes have an outdoor patio that allows you to enjoy the outdoors and the spectacular foliage. The town homes are very nicely appointed and feel very homey and comfortable. Great shopping and sites close by with fabulous beaches. I highly recommend these tow homes as a place to stay on Kuaui.
We rented a 1 bedroom condo for 3 nights in late February 2016. Our room (a lower level unit) was very clean, well equipped, with newly updated kitchen and bathroom, nice lanai, and very comfortable bed. I appreciated the well-stocked kitchen (including the elusive sharp knives that rental condos never seem to have) and the washer and dryer in the unit. Customer service was outstanding. Our unit, although ground floor, had a great view of the mountains (it would have been spectacular from the top floor!). Although this unit was near the road, noise was never a problem. The unit did have air conditioning, but we never needed it, and instead relied on opening windows to cool it down, which worked perfectly. A note on location: Makai Club is not on the ocean or a beach. Few rentals on Kauai's north shore are actually on a beach, although some are near the ocean. A nice walk to Hideaways beach near the St. Regis also requires an exiting (and fun, in our opinion) hike down a steep hill. This is a wonderful, reasonably-priced home base for exploring the north shore, especially for the Kalalau Trail, north shore beaches (Secret Beach and the beaches in Haena were great), and Hanalei.
Thank you Jackie and Makai Club for a wonderful week. Hot tub every night. Great beaches to explore. Used golf clubs as part of room rental and played three great rounds on Makai course. Staff helped with helicopter ride, beach chairs and umbrella. We left an item in the safe that was mailed back to the mainland-thanks again!
A great laied back atmosphere with a staff that took care of any request quickly. The absence of any pressure to purchase anything was much appreciated. It was a great place to hike and we took advantage of that each day.
What a great place to stay on the North Shore (Princeville in Kauai). We came here for a couple of nights to get the "Princeville" experience and loved it. Cottages were wonderful! The highlight of our two night stay was the 5 p.m. golf cart tour, at the Makai Golf course (designed by Robert Trent Jones). For a for a nominal price, you take golf carts out on this lovely course (without golf clubs) and you get to drive around and get the absolute best feel of Paradise. You go out from the clubhouse on your own pace of leisure, and are able to walk on the most prestigious greens in the world (barefoot), take as many pictures as you like...........and if you time it right, you are on the seventh hole of this amazing course, taking pictures of the most spectacular sunsets in the world!!!
